Job Description

Job Summary
Responsible for safe, smooth and productive operating of the forklift.

Responsibilities

SHEQ Compliance 

  • Responsible for maintaining SHEQ standards on and around your machine 
  • Responsible for stacking and packing 
  • Ensure safe stacking of product 
  • Responsible for reporting substandard housekeeping conditions in your workplace 
  • Responsible for reporting on quality of product transported with your machine 
  • Make sure that you are properly qualified and certified to operate the equipment 
  • Never allow anyone that is not properly qualified to operate the equipment 
  • Always make sure the machine is locked and safe, i.e bucket or forks to be down, before maintenance or cleaning work on the machine can be done 
  • Responsible for keeping management informed about the condition of the machine

Ensure a Productive and Profitable Workflow  

  • Responsible to achieve maximum productivity from your machine 
  • Responsible to maintain enough fuel in tanks to complete the following shift

Maintenance 

  • Filling in checklists as per specific requirements on equipment 
  • Report any machine malfunctions immediately 
  • Basic maintenance of machine (check oil, grease, etc.) 
  • Keeping your machine clean and tidy 
  • Ensure 1 hourly inspections are conducted for wound up strapping on prop shafts and wheel joints

Attendance 

  • The nature of this position is of high responsibility. Operators must be reliable and add value to the team 
  • Operators will be monitored closely for absenteeism 
  • Be available for ADHOC work and work shifts when requested

Record Keeping 

  • Where required, production records and checklists are to be kept and submitted to the Site Supervisor on a daily basis 
  • Record daily tasks and any maintenance done on your machine 
  • Inform the Site Supervisor 3 months before your license expires

  • Grade 10 
  • 1-3 years’ forklift operating experience is required 
  • Literate, able to fill in diary and reports 
  • Qualification to operate forklift
