Job Description
- Supervise, plan and coordinate fleet servicing and maintenance activities, including managing and allocating project resources to ensure agreed time, cost, quality, and safety targets are met.
- Control the Workshop Management System by scheduling and recording the allocation of jobs, monitoring timely, cost-effective repairs and workshop income and expenditure to facilitate accurate fleet maintenance records.
- Provide advice, direction, and regular feedback on workshop performance to motivate a team of mechanical tradespersons and apprentices in the delivery of mechanical services.
- Conduct on the job tutorials and assist with solving complex mechanical and hydraulic problems to provide mechanical training and instruction to workshop personnel, including apprentices.
- Facilitate the efficient delivery of mechanical services through communication, liaison, negotiation and coordination with internal and external clients to manage client relations.
- Conduct the continual monitoring and controlling of workshop expenses and monthly income and expenditure statements and provide the Workshop Manager with feedback to ensure workshop budget projections are achieved.
- Adhere to EFM policies and procedures and authorise purchase orders to ensure the procurement of spare parts and other services are carried out.
- Undertake all levels of servicing, maintenance and repairs of all forklifts, lifting equipment, hydraulic systems and mobile plant.
- Ensure job cards are complete and accurate.
- Conduct daily toolbox talks prior to work commencement, prioritize work, follow up on any concerns staff may have.
Other Duties:
- Fill-in as workshop manager during leave periods
- Liaising with our procurement and inventory manager daily basis
- Some travel and living away from Home (Port Moresby/Solomon Islands)
- Liaising regularly with other departments
- Other duties as requested by management from time to time
The following skills are essential:
- Heavy equipment / truck maintenance experience
- Previous experience working and living overseas
- Exposure to Transport/International Freight sector
- Diploma or equivalent in Mechanical / Automotive or related field.
- 10 years’ experience managing or supervising a workshop, particularly attached to the transport and heavy lifting equipment industry
- Extensive Knowledge of mechanical issues, warranties, service and general repairs
- Strong analytical, communication and inter-personal skills with administrative competence vital for this role
- Computer literate with a solid understanding of Microsoft applications
