Job Description
- To support a community based study assessing body composition
- To assist with data collection for the study, as well as sample and data management
Location:
- DPHRU – Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital, Soweto
Key performance areas:
- Assist with recruitment, data-collection, and fieldwork
- Project administration
- Data capturing
- Review of participant files for completeness
- Assist with study documentation development and maintenance of study records
- Biological sample managemet and laboratory analysis of stable isotope assessments
- Data management and quality control
- Project reporting
- Manage scheduled and unscheduled participant visits for the study
- Other activities related to the successful completion of the project
Required minimum education and training:
- Matric with Research experience
- Driver’s licence and able to drive
- Experience working with stable isotopes
Required minimum work experience:
- More than 2 years’ experience in clinical research
- Research experience and/or experience managing research studies or fieldwork
- Experience conducting body composition assessments and working on REDCap
- Computer literacy – competence in REDCap, MS Word and Excel essential
Desirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities:
- Experience working in research studies or fieldwork would be an advantage
- Experience with individual and/or group-based training, and/or adult education experience
- Ability to function in a fast-paced multi-tasking environment and pay attention to detail
- Good interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work in a diverse team
- Able to exercise discretion and independent decision making
- Well organised
- Problem solver
- Experience of working with donor-funded projects and in a research or academic environment is an advantage
- Ability to engage with the community in which the study is conducted
