About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Finance Manager to join our client’s team in Cape Town. This role is ideal for a candidate with a strong academic background in finance or accounting who is eager to grow within the construction industry. As a Junior Finance Manager, you will support the senior finance team in managing the financial health of the business, ensuring compliance, and contributing to the smooth financial operation of multiple construction projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Assist in preparing management accounts and project-specific financial reports.
- Support variance analysis and provide insights into cost control and profitability.
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and rolling forecasts.
- Monitor project budgets against actual spend and highlight variances.
- Work with project managers to ensure accurate cost tracking and reporting.
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes.
- Support cash flow management by monitoring inflows/outflows and preparing projections.
- Ensure supplier and subcontractor payments are processed accurately and on time.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations, tax laws, and company policies.
- Assist with audits and provide necessary documentation and explanations.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of construction industry financial regulations.
- Provide financial support to construction teams on-site and at head office.
- Monitor project costs, claims, and variations to ensure profitability.
- Assist in evaluating financial risks associated with projects.
- Contribute to streamlining financial processes and improving reporting efficiency.
- Assist with implementing financial systems and controls.
- Ensure accurate record-keeping for all financial transactions.
Minimum Requirements
Education: A tertiary qualification in Finance, Accounting, or related field (Bachelors degree minimum).
Experience: 02 years relevant finance experience (construction industry exposure is advantageous but not essential).
Technical Skills:
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
Proficiency in MS Excel and financial software (experience with construction-related software an advantage).
Soft Skills:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
