Durban: Accounts Clerk

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Accounts Clerk to join our team in Durban. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our financial processes and maintaining accurate records.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare payments to suppliers and process supplier invoices strictly according to company policies and procedures, and gaming regulations
  • Accurately and timeously process the cashbook and balance sheet accounts
  • Smoothly manage EFT payment batches from Accpac and Nedinform
  • Assist with recording food and beverage transactions
  • Ensure that the control of purchase orders is adhered to and that all accruals are recorded
  • Ensure that inter-company transactions are recorded
  • Keep the supplier information database and filing up to date
  • Identify all errors and take prompt corrective action
  • Audit, analyse & interpret financial data and related documentation
  • Draw up accurate creditors aged reports and take prompt corrective action when required

Requirements

  • Matric (NQF 4)
  • A finance-related Degree or Diploma
  • Experience with Accpac
  • Sound MS Office skills
  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment
  • At least 1 year of experience in a similar position

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Accounts Clerk to join our team in Durban. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of our financial processes. If you have strong MS Excel skills and experience with Sage/Omni Accounts, we would love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive, verify and code supplier invoices to the correct general ledger accounts (Accounts Payable)
  • Verify and code EFT payments to the correct general ledger accounts (Bank and Cash)
  • Reconcile and process transactions to the correct general ledger accounts (Petty cash/Branch bank cards)
  • Verify incoming deliveries against supporting documents for stock and inventory control
  • Enter stock interbranch transfers into the ERP system
  • Enter authorised stock adjustments into the ERP system
  • Maintain organised physical and digital filing systems for all financial documentation
  • Handle standard office duties like answering phones, processing mail and providing support to senior accounting staff

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 to 3 years in a finance and/or bookkeeping role
  • Strong MS Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables)
  • Experience with Sage/Omni Accounts
  • High level of accuracy and methodical approach
  • Well-organised with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to demonstrate high ethical standards when handling sensitive and confidential financial data
