About the Role
Hire Resolve’s Client is seeking a dynamic and skilled Mechanical/fire Engineer to join their developing team in Cape Town. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, engineering, and implementing fire protection systems that meet local, national, and international fire safety codes.
Key Responsibilities
- Design & Engineering: Develop mechanical and fire protection system designs, including sprinklers, hydrants, fire pumps, smoke control, and suppression systems.
- Code Compliance: Ensure designs meet local, national, and international fire safety codes (e.g., NFPA, IBC, ASHRAE).
- Risk Assessment: Conduct fire risk evaluations, hazard analysis, and safety inspections.
- Project Management: Collaborate with architects, MEP engineers, and construction teams to integrate fire safety solutions effectively.
- Testing & Commissioning: Oversee system testing, commissioning, and performance evaluations.
- Innovation: Stay up to date with the latest fire safety technologies and best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 3+ years of experience in fire protection engineering, mechanical design, or a related role.
- Experience with fire suppression, smoke control, and mechanical fire protection systems.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and hydraulic calculation software (e.g., HASS, FHC, or similar).
- Strong understanding of fire safety codes and standards (NFPA, IBC, ASHRAE, BS, FM Global).
- Knowledge of fire suppression systems, including sprinklers, hydrants, fire pumps, gaseous suppression, and smoke control systems.
