About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Electronic Engineering Team Lead to join our team in Stellenbosch, South Africa. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the design, development, and verification of satellite control systems, providing technical leadership and mentoring to a team of electronic and control systems engineers.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and verification of satellite control systems (e.g. AOCS, power control, and actuator/sensor interfaces)
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to a team of electronic and control systems engineers
- Define system architecture, control algorithms, and electronic designs, compliant with space standards
- Oversee requirements definition, design reviews, and technical documentation
- Support system integration, testing, and validation at the unit, subsystem, and satellite levels
- Interface with systems engineering, software, mechanical, and operations teams
- Ensure compliance with relevant space, reliability, and safety standards (e.g. ECSS and MIL)
- Contribute to technical roadmaps, risk assessments, and project planning
Requirements
- Degree in Electronic Engineering, Control Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or similar
- 710 years of experience in electronic and/or control systems engineering
- Proven experience with satellite or spaceborne systems
- Strong background in control theory, control system design, and implementation
- Experience leading or mentoring engineering teams
- Hands-on experience with electronic design (analog/digital), simulations, and testing
- Familiarity with embedded systems and real-time control environments
