About the Role
A prestigious wine estate in Stellenbosch is seeking an experienced Sommelier to elevate the wine experience for guests. The role focuses on delivering expert wine recommendations, enhancing tastings, and ensuring the highest standards in wine service.
Key Responsibilities
- Curate and manage the wine list, ensuring it reflects the estates quality and variety.
- Provide expert wine guidance and recommendations to guests.
- Conduct wine tastings, tours, and educational sessions for visitors.
- Collaborate with the cellar and hospitality teams to ensure seamless service.
- Manage wine inventory, including stock levels, ordering, and storage.
- Stay up to date with industry trends, wine regions, and new vintages.
- Maintain the presentation and service standards of the wine cellar and tasting areas.
Requirements
Proven experience as a Sommelier or in a similar role within a fine-dining or wine-focused environment. Formal wine education (WSET, CMS, or equivalent) preferred. Deep knowledge of wine regions, grape varieties, and food pairing. Exceptional customer service and communication skills. Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
