Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team in the mining equipment industry. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of heavy diesel-powered mining equipment, ensuring optimal performance and safety. This role demands a high level of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to safety and efficiency in challenging mining environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Equipment Maintenance and Repair:
- Perform routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on diesel-powered mining equipment, including haul trucks, loaders, excavators, dozers, and other heavy machinery.
- Inspect and test equipment for operational reliability, ensuring safety and performance standards are met.
- Troubleshooting and Diagnostics:
- Utilize advanced diagnostic tools and software to identify mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.
- Analyze fault codes and implement effective solutions to minimize downtime.
- Parts Replacement and Rebuilding:
- Replace or repair defective parts, components, or systems, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and hydraulics.
- Rebuild and overhaul major components to factory specifications.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Follow safety protocols and ensure compliance with mining industry regulations.
- Conduct safety inspections and maintain accurate records of maintenance activities.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain detailed service and repair logs.
- Report equipment performance issues to management and suggest improvements.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Education and Certification:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certification in Diesel Mechanics or Heavy Equipment Maintenance preferred.
- Valid drivers license; Commercial Drivers License (CDL) is an advantage.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a diesel mechanic, preferably in the mining or heavy equipment industry.
- Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical components.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of diesel engine systems, hydraulics, and electrical circuits.
- Proficiency with diagnostic tools and software.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
- Soft Skills:
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work in challenging and remote mining environments.
Working Conditions:
- Work in a variety of environments, including outdoor mining sites and repair workshops.
- Ability to lift heavy equipment and work in physically demanding conditions.
- Availability for shift work, including nights, weekends, and on-call duties as required.
