Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team in the mining equipment industry. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of heavy diesel-powered mining equipment, ensuring optimal performance and safety. This role demands a high level of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to safety and efficiency in challenging mining environments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Equipment Maintenance and Repair:
  • Perform routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on diesel-powered mining equipment, including haul trucks, loaders, excavators, dozers, and other heavy machinery.
  • Inspect and test equipment for operational reliability, ensuring safety and performance standards are met.
• Troubleshooting and Diagnostics:
  • Utilize advanced diagnostic tools and software to identify mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.
  • Analyze fault codes and implement effective solutions to minimize downtime.
• Parts Replacement and Rebuilding:
  • Replace or repair defective parts, components, or systems, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and hydraulics.
  • Rebuild and overhaul major components to factory specifications.
• Safety and Compliance:
  • Follow safety protocols and ensure compliance with mining industry regulations.
  • Conduct safety inspections and maintain accurate records of maintenance activities.
• Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain detailed service and repair logs.
  • Report equipment performance issues to management and suggest improvements.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Education and Certification:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certification in Diesel Mechanics or Heavy Equipment Maintenance preferred.
  • Valid drivers license; Commercial Drivers License (CDL) is an advantage.
• Experience:
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a diesel mechanic, preferably in the mining or heavy equipment industry.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical components.
• Technical Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engine systems, hydraulics, and electrical circuits.
  • Proficiency with diagnostic tools and software.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
• Soft Skills:
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work in challenging and remote mining environments.

Working Conditions:

• Work in a variety of environments, including outdoor mining sites and repair workshops.
• Ability to lift heavy equipment and work in physically demanding conditions.
• Availability for shift work, including nights, weekends, and on-call duties as required.
