About the Role
Bodlongwa River Resort is seeking a qualified and experienced Live-in Head Chef to lead and stabilise kitchen operations in our growing leisure destination in the Vhembe District of Limpopo. As part of an operational restructuring, we require a disciplined chef who is comfortable working in rural hospitality, managing staff, implementing systems for stock and cost control, and maintaining consistent food quality in a busy resort environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead and manage daily kitchen operations
• Supervise and train kitchen staff
• Implement stock control, portion control, and food costing systems
• Maintain high food safety and hygiene standards
• Ensure consistent quality across café meals and event catering
• Manage kitchen operations during busy weekends and events
• Report on kitchen performance to the Operations Manager
Requirements
Recognised culinary qualification (compulsory)
Minimum 7 years kitchen experience
At least 3 years in a senior or supervisory kitchen role
Strong knowledge of stock control and food costing
Experience working in high-volume service environments
Ability to manage staff firmly and professionally
Good organisational and communication skills
Comfortable working in a rural resort environment
