Job Summary
Hospitality Hire SA is partnering with a respected recruitment company in the search for a Director of Finance on behalf of a prestigious international luxury hotel in Cape Town. This pivotal leadership role will act as custodian of the hotel’s financial integrity, safeguarding assets while driving profitability, efficiency, and strategic growth.
The Role
The Director of Finance will oversee all aspects of financial management, reporting, and compliance, working closely with the General Manager and Executive Team to shape business strategy. This is a highly visible, hands-on role requiring a detail-oriented leader with international hotel finance expertise, capable of balancing precision in reporting with forward-thinking analysis and forecasting.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Leadership & Strategy
- Partner with the General Manager and Executive Team to develop financial strategies aligned with hotel performance and growth objectives
- Deliver accurate, timely financial reporting, forecasting, and business insights
- Provide recommendations to optimise profitability and cost efficiency
Controls & Compliance
- Implement and monitor strong internal controls, ensuring accuracy, accountability, and integrity across financial operations
- Safeguard assets and manage risk through robust processes and systems
- Ensure compliance with local regulations, international standards, and brand policies
Operational Finance
- Oversee Accounting, Purchasing, and Food & Beverage control functions
- Drive budgeting, forecasting, and cost management processes
- Lead financial analysis and modelling for operational decisions
Team Leadership
- Guide, mentor, and develop the Finance team to uphold the highest standards of accuracy and discretion
- Foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (Finance, Business, or Hospitality advantageous)
- Professional accounting qualification preferred (CA, CPA, ACCA)
- Big 4 audit experience highly desirable
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Hotel Financial Controller within an international luxury or branded hotel environment
- Strong expertise in hotel finance operations, including Accounting, Purchasing, and F&B control
- Advanced skills in financial processes, analysis, and modelling
- Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel
- South African citizenship or permanent residency (no work permits offered)
