Western Cape: Human Resources Officer – Agriculture (Tulbagh)

We are seeking a hands-on and experienced Human Resources Officer with a solid understanding of agricultural labour environments to support our growing operations. Operating in a dynamic farming and packhouse environment, the business places strong emphasis on people management, compliance, and sustainable labour practices. Manage the full HR function for permanent and seasonal agricultural staff Recruitment, onboarding, and offboarding of farm, packhouse, and administrative employees Administration of employment contracts, disciplinary procedures, grievances, and hearings Ensure compliance with South African labour legislation , including BCEA, LRA, EE, and minimum wage requirements for agriculture Manage attendance, leave records, and workforce planning in line with seasonal demands Coordinate performance management processes and staff development initiatives Handle payroll inputs and liaise with external payroll service providers Support health & safety, housing, and worker welfare initiatives Maintain accurate HR records and prepare reports for management Serve as a trusted point of contact between management and employees Candidate Requiements: Diploma or Degree in Human Resources / Industrial Relations or related field Minimum 35 years HR experience , preferably within agriculture, farming, and packhouse operations Strong knowledge of South African labour law and agricultural sector regulations Experience managing large seasonal workforces will be highly advantageous Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills Strong administrative skills with attention to detail Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, operational environment Proficiency in MS Office; HR or payroll systems experience advantageous
