Job Description

In manufacturing, the numbers dont sit in spreadsheets – they live on the floor, in production, in stock, and in every margin decision. A fast-growing organisation in the manufacturing and packaging sector is looking for a Financial Manager to take full ownership of the finance function and support the business through its next phase of growth. This is a hands-on, operational role for a commercially sharp finance professional who understands costing, WIP, and inventory, and enjoys being close to operations. Youll work directly with leadership, bringing structure, insight, and control to a business thats scaling. Key Responsibilities: Managing the full finance function across the business and group entities Overseeing month-end and year-end reporting Managing cash flow, budgets, and forecasts Providing financial insights to support decision-making Managing WIP accounting and reporting Overseeing inventory and cost accounting processes Analysing margins, variances, and production costs Maintaining fixed asset registers and depreciation schedules Tax, Compliance & Governance: Preparing and reviewing VAT and tax submissions Managing income tax and provisional tax calculations Ensuring compliance via SARS eFiling Liaising with auditors, tax consultants, and external stakeholders Overseeing debtors, creditors, and inter-company accounts Strengthening financial controls, systems, and processes Partnering with operational teams to drive efficiency and performance Job Experience and Skills Required: BCom Accounting (essential) Completed SAICA / SAIPA / CIMA articles or equivalent Minimum 10 years experience in a full-function finance role Proven experience within the manufacturing industry (non-negotiable) Strong exposure to costing, WIP, inventory, and operational finance Experience working within a group structure Advanced Excel skills and accounting system experience Key Competencies: Strong commercial and analytical mindset High attention to detail and problem-solving ability Ability to work independently and take ownership Confident communicator who engages well with operations and leadership Hands-on, deadline-driven, and solutions-focused Leadership presence with the ability to influence business direction This role is ideal for a seasoned manufacturing finance professional who wants to step into a position where they can own the numbers, influence operations, and drive real business growth.
