• Develop, implement, and enforce safety policies, procedures, and training in line with legal and company requirements.
• Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and accident investigations.
• Foster a safety-first culture throughout the organization, ensuring continuous improvement in workplace safety practices.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal health and safety laws.

Quality Assurance

• Oversee all aspects of product quality, including inspection, testing, and compliance to internal and external standards.
• Drive the implementation of ISO and/or other relevant quality management systems.
• Lead root cause analysis and corrective action processes for product non-conformances or process failures.
• Monitor production processes and implement improvements to reduce variation and waste.

Continuous Improvement

• Champion Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma initiatives to improve operational efficiency and product quality.
• Lead Kaizen events, 5S programs, and value stream mapping.
• Analyze data to identify trends and recommend strategies for improvement in both safety and quality.

Leadership & Management

• Lead and mentor a team of safety and quality professionals.
• Collaborate closely with production, maintenance, engineering, and HR departments to support overall operational goals.
• Provide training and support to staff at all levels to ensure awareness and compliance with safety and quality standards.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related Engineering discipline (required) or a BCom Degree.
• This position is open to all South Africans.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role (required).
• Certification or formal training in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma (Green Belt or higher preferred).
• Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance (e.g., OSHA, ISO standards).
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Proficient in MS Office, quality management software, and safety tracking systems.

Preferred Attributes:

• Experience in the packaging, industrial, or process manufacturing industries.
• Strong leadership and team development skills.
• Hands-on experience with data-driven decision making and KPI tracking.
• Familiarity with environmental compliance and sustainability practices is a plus.
