Duties & Responsibilities
Primary Roles:
Welding and Fabrication:
- Perform welding and fabrication of structural steel components as per specifications and blueprints for various petrochemical facilities, including platforms, supports, tanks, and pipelines.
Quality Assurance:
- Ensure that all welding activities meet industry standards (e.g., ASME, AWS, or API) and project-specific quality requirements.
Safety Compliance:
- Adhere to all workplace safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and proper handling of tools and equipment in hazardous environments.
Equipment Operation:
- Operate and maintain welding equipment, such as TIG, MIG, or stick welding machines, as well as cutting tools like plasma cutters and oxy-acetylene torches.
Material Preparation:
- Prepare structural materials for welding, including cleaning, grinding, bevelling, and aligning components to ensure proper fit-up and weld integrity.

Responsibilities:
Blueprint Interpretation:
- Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and work orders to determine welding and assembly requirements.
Welding Inspections:
- Perform visual and non-destructive testing (NDT) on completed welds to identify defects and ensure compliance with standards.
Repair and Maintenance:
- Conduct repairs on damaged structures and perform routine maintenance on welding equipment to ensure operational readiness.
Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with engineers, supervisors, and other tradespeople to align on project goals and resolve technical issues.
Documentation:
- Maintain detailed records of welding activities, including heat input, welding techniques used, and compliance with quality checks.
Adaptability:
- Work in diverse environments, including confined spaces, elevated locations, and extreme temperatures, typical of petrochemical sites.
Continuous Improvement:
- Stay updated with the latest welding technologies, materials, and industry regulations to enhance skills and workplace efficiency.
Environmental Responsibility:
- Ensure proper disposal of scrap materials and waste generated during welding processes, adhering to environmental safety standards.
Experience & Qualification
- 3 to 5 years’ experience.
- Trade certificate for Welding.
- Redseal.
