Job Description

Job Title: Bookkeeper

Location: First Floor, Office 4, 13 The Boulevard, Westway Office Park, Durban, KZN

Reports to: Head of Controlling and Reporting

About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our Finance Team in Durban, supporting the Chemical Logistics & Distribution and Investment Property entities. The role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and assisting the finance department with reporting and reconciliations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
  • Prepare accruals, deferrals, provisions, and journal entries.
  • Prepare and process certain intercompany transactions.
  • Review and reconcile bank, debtors, creditors and inventory, to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
  • Maintain accurate and organized financial records.
  • Prepare and file VAT returns.
  • Support month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Assist with compliance with accounting and tax regulations.
  • Assist with audits, budgeting, forecasting, and ad hoc financial support.

Requirements

Qualifications & Knowledge

  • Grade 12 (minimum).
  • Bookkeeping certificate, VAT course certificate.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, accounting practices, and finance policies.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills.

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years hands-on bookkeeping experience.
