Job Summary

Job Requirement: Grade 12 Tertiary Education (including Diplomas, Certificates, and Degrees) Minimum N2 in Tool, Jig & Die trade theory and trade tested (red seal), preferable 5 years relevant setting experience Diversity Management Conflict Management Skills

Responsibilities:

Technical: Identify, report and rectify all technical areas of concern on assigned production equipment (machines, moulds, etc.) Have an in-depth understanding of Product and its quality criteria Process (material feeding and drying, injection moulding, reheat stretch blow moulding and injection blow moulding) General knowledge of all equipment, detailed for assigned equipment Mould installation Technical principles and drawings (e.g. assemblies and spare part finding, pneumatic, hydraulic, electric) Fault analysis and problem solving Independently do fault analysis and problem solving in case of (teamwork as needed) Product quality issues mould issues machine malfunction (mechanic / hydraulic / pneumatic / electric) Recognize and report problems to Maintenance Manager & Production Manager on other than the assigned equipment. Maintenance Independently develop maintenance plans and checklists (teamwork as needed) Ensure maintenance is done at required intervals according to the plans By yourself By service suppliers as agreed by the Maintenance Manager & Production Manager. Document maintenance according to the plans. Spares Identify spares needed for assigned equipment In general As a preventative measure identified during maintenance checks Machine Setting: Optimisation of the production process, setting the machine for optimal performance and cycle time. Ensure that the process integrity is optimal for each run; if not, amend and record new process settings. Document settings as per standard practice at the facility. Management Liaise with Maintenance Manager and Production Manager (in charge) to ensure machine availability vs. major maintenance intervals. Have an overview of what needs to be done and report to Maintenance Manager and Production Manager. Give completion dates and fulfill tasks required by Maintenance Manager and Production Manager. Ensure sound relationships and communication with internal work-related staff (QC, Production, etc.) and external entities (Bowler Plastics Toolroom, Technical department, suppliers, etc.). Strive for improvement, research, and make suggestions. Administration Log jobs performed. Analyze the Defect Register together with Maintenance Manager and Production Manager to improve production results. Contact external suppliers, as agreed with Maintenance Manager and Production Manager, to assist in solving problems (quotes on service, spare parts, etc.). Spares Have an overview of existing stock for equipment. Conduct spare part analysis (i.e., keep stock vs. source at breakdown) considering the likelihood of wear/breakage vs. cost vs. delivery time. Report parts needed to Maintenance Manager and Production Manager, and assist in decisions to keep stock or source at breakdown. Assist Maintenance Manager and Production Manager in the ordering process (e.g., prepare documents, follow up on orders). Plan for the year ahead; assist Maintenance Manager and Production Manager with work on the budget for maintenance. Health & Safety Ensure and enforce that aspects in the area of responsibility conform to health and safety requirements. Maintain housekeeping standards in the area of responsibility (e.g., ensure cleanliness of assigned machines and areas). Work safely and report on safety hazards or issues. Report any accidents, incidents, and near misses. Quality Apply the companys quality principles and standards. Maintain Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). Food Safety System Certification (FSSC) Food safety standards are site-specific, and at these sites, employees should: Apply the sites food safety principles and standards. Report any food safety hazards or issues to your Supervisor/Manager. Comply with and maintain all GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices) in relation to the Companys FSMS (Food Safety Management System). Self-Development, Growth, and Training Realistically assess own strengths and development areas and undertake actions to address weaknesses, if any, that hinder the fulfillment of your objectives. Stay abreast of innovation and technical improvements for further self-development and the development of the company. Keep contact with your key suppliers and discuss with them. Read operator manuals of machines. Read literature related to your position (e.g., on the internet, Google, etc.). Promote teamwork and cooperation. Practice self-management. Exhibit leadership and interpersonal relationship skills. Maintain product and service quality. General: Perform additional tasks as required from time to time. Ensure the team knows what to do and where to find information if you are not available. Inform yourself about and apply the company`s principles and standards.
