A leading South African coal and resource group is seeking a Project Engineer Mechanical to manage and direct the full lifecycle of medium to large-scale projects from initiation through to ramp-up. This includes design, execution, legal compliance, and performance management aligned to engineering and safety standards.

Requirements:

• National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (Essential)
• Project Management Certificate (Essential)
• Management Development Programme (Essential)
• Government Certificate of Competency (GCC): Engineering (Advantageous)
• 68 years project engineering experience in mining, heavy industry, or production
• Experience managing full project lifecycle: from scoping to commissioning
• Familiar with EPCM, SHEQ standards, legal frameworks (MHSA), and compliance reviews

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee engineering project execution, contract management, and risk mitigation
• Ensure SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environmental & Quality) compliance across all phases
• Coordinate cross-functional teams and external contractors
• Interface with internal and external stakeholders to meet project objectives
• Monitor budgets, timelines, and performance KPIs
• Implement project assurance, governance, and quality frameworks
• Conduct post-project evaluations and identify process improvements
