Job Summary
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the complete running of production, technical, safety, quality, and employee training in the business unit.
- Plan weekly production schedules in coordination with the Business Manager and Sales team.
- Monitor production performance against targets, ensuring optimal material usage and stock levels.
- Manage machinery, equipment, and tooling, coordinating maintenance or repairs as needed.
- Ensure consistent product quality through effective production techniques, such as casting and curing.
- Facilitate regular meetings with workers to ensure smooth communication and resolve issues.
- Provide feedback on performance, review KPAs, and ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and SABS standards.
- Conduct regular safety inspections to adhere to health and safety regulations.
- Manage mould availability and preventative maintenance to ensure product compliance.
Requirements:
- Grade 12 or NQF4 equivalent; tertiary qualification in production management is preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in a production environment, especially in the manufacturing of cement/concrete products.
- Knowledge of OHS and ISO standards.
- Qualified Millwright (Artisan trade) is an advantage.
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to manage and mentor a production team.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Computer literacy; JDE experience will be an advantage.
- Ability to adapt to changing environments and manage conflict effectively.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
