Job Summary
- Must be a Qualified Millwright (Red Seal or equivalent trade qualification)
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a maintenance management role within a poultry operation, with a strong understanding of hatchery and broiler equipment
- Hands-on experience with electrical and mechanical fault finding and repairs
- Strong understanding of automated poultry systems (feeding, watering, climate control, ventilation, generators)
- Experience with EMtech or similar hatchery systems is advantageous
- Familiarity with farm utilities such as water pumps, generators, and backup systems
- Sound leadership and team management skills
- Excellent communication, planning, and organizational abilities
- Willingness to be based on site and respond to emergency maintenance issues when required
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Planning, leading, and executing all maintenance activities across the broiler farm, hatchery, and ancillary infrastructure.
- Conducting regular inspections and diagnostics of mechanical and electrical systems and equipment to ensure optimal functionality.
- Performing preventative maintenance on poultry-specific equipment such as hatchers, setters, ventilation systems, feed lines, water lines, generators, and HVAC systems.
- Overseeing installation, repair, and servicing of all mechanical and electrical systems across the site.
- Managing and mentoring a small team of maintenance staff and allocating resources efficiently.
- Maintaining maintenance schedules, records, and reports in line with company SOPs.
- Coordinating with farm and hatchery managers to prioritize and plan maintenance tasks without disrupting operations.
- Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations and company standards.
- Sourcing, liaising, and negotiating with service providers and suppliers for spare parts and technical support when needed.
