Job Summary

This role is ideally suited to applicants with previous individual income tax experience, with a minimum of 5 years experience in this area. Key responsibilities include: Completion of return of income, including submission of return to SARS, and calculations of tax payments and ensuring execution of same Timeous data capture of all relevant data on tax management tools Check assessments and follow-up on errors Raise objections to assessments, and attend to enquiries raised by SARS, including all supporting docs Request and remit payments and attend to client refunds from SARS Liaison with internal and external clients, and support departments as needed Client liaison: timeous response to attending to and resolving all queries; Regular and ongoing feedback relating to progress and confirmation of finalisation of matters to internal and external clients Key requirements for applicants: Previous experience in similar function a requirement, with proven track record (5 years) Experience in income tax for individuals, including for provisional taxpayers Computer literacy (intermediate): MS Office suite and excel at an intermediate level Ability to work independently, Attention to detail and excellent organisational skills Clean credit and criminal check, valid, unendorsed drivers licence and own vehicle are required Accurate and deadline oriented Kindly note that by submitting your application for this career opportunity, you agree that Guardian Recruiting may use your application for the purpose of the recruitment and selection of the said position, and this information may be shared with the relevant stakeholders in the business. Job Summary

Desired Experience & Qualification BCom degree specializing in Tax. (beneficial but not a prerequisite) Knowledge of efiling and Easyfile are essential. Previous experience as a Tax Compliance Officer Have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Have strong analytical ability and work well under pressure while maintaining high levels of accuracy and quality of work. Be deadline driven and able to work independently without constant supervision. Have a strong desire to learn and develop in the position. Valid Driver’s license and own reliable transport. Duties and Responsibilities: Registration of individuals, companies, trusts for income tax, payroll tax (PAYE), value-added tax (VAT) and customs duty. Calculation and Completion and submission of income tax returns for individuals, companies, trusts and exempt institutions. Calculation and Completion and submission of provisional tax returns for individuals, companies, and trusts. Attending to SARS reviews and audits on income tax returns for all taxpayer types. Completion and submission of objections and appeals against SARS assessments with reference to the relevant aspects of the Tax Administration Act. Calculation and submission of EMP201 and EMP501 returns for employers. Calculation and submission of VAT returns. Completion and submission of Tax clearance, tax directives, donations tax, dividends tax, turnover tax. Arrangement of payments via e-filing. Meeting and liaising with SARS officials/staff to resolve queries. SARS eFiling profile requests and maintenance. Tax Administration – Checking on SARS correspondence daily. Training the tax department with regards to aspects of e-filing and general tax compliance matters. Assisting tax trainees with on-the-job training. Assisting tax trainees with competencies as required by the prescribed training program of the South African Institution of Taxation (SAIT). Providing assistance to the Tax Manager with regards to overall control and systems in the Tax Department. Prepare billings for your client base within the monthly deadlines set.
