Job Summary

Job Purpose: To manage all aspects of retail store operations with a focus on maximizing profitability, ensuring stock availability, maintaining compliance, and delivering superior customer service. Job Purpose: To manage the full scope of store operations with a focus on profitability, efficiency, compliance, and customer satisfaction. Key Responsibilities: Retail Store Management Implement strategic and operational plans to support store objectives. Ensure merchandise availability through inventory oversight and supplier coordination. Develop and apply pricing strategies and marketing initiatives based on market trends. Analyze operational and financial data to drive performance improvements. Maintain store security, safety, and cleanliness in compliance with regulations. Schedule and manage store staff to ensure smooth day-to-day operations. Compliance Operate within established procedures and controls to ensure full compliance with internal policies and external regulations. Identify and monitor risks, maintaining relevant documentation and reporting concerns as needed. Promote a culture of health, safety, and environmental awareness across the store. Customer Service Management Foster strong relationships with both internal and external customers. Represent the business in meetings with clients, suppliers, and other stakeholders. Address and resolve service-related issues promptly and professionally. Staff Supervision Ensure performance contracts are in place and appraisals are conducted regularly. Support team development through training and clear performance objectives. Handle employee relations matters fairly and proactively. Cost and Financial Control Participate in budget planning and manage expenditure in line with approved budgets. Monitor spending, identify areas for cost savings, and implement efficiency improvements. Ensure compliance with financial policies and reporting procedures. Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications: Diploma in Business Administration, Sales, or Marketing (NQF 6) Preferred Qualifications: Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Sales, or Marketing (NQF 7) Experience: Required: At least 5 years experience in a retail sales or marketing environment, including 3 years in a supervisory or management role Technical Competencies: Proficient in MS Office Suite and relevant business systems Strong understanding of retail operations, inventory management, and financial processes

Job Summary

Store Manager – Job Profile This is a hands-on leadership position suited to a proactive, experienced retail professional who thrives in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment. The role requires active involvement across the sales floor, store operations, and team management to ensure service excellence and strong business results. Key Responsibilities Lead from the front , actively working on the shop floor to drive performance and set high standards for service delivery. Take full ownership of daily store operations , ensuring all functions – from customer service to stock control – run efficiently and professionally. Drive sales and profitability by identifying business opportunities, setting and monitoring targets, and motivating the team to exceed expectations. Personally engage with customers, building relationships and ensuring consistent delivery of exceptional service. Coach, mentor, and develop team members on the floor, providing real-time feedback and support to enhance skills and performance. Foster a collaborative and accountable team culture , promoting productivity, enthusiasm, and high standards. Oversee visual merchandising , stock replenishment, and layout decisions to optimise the store environment and improve sales. Ensure the store maintains top standards of cleanliness, presentation, and health & safety , taking initiative to address and resolve issues. Perform key administrative duties , including scheduling, reporting, staff performance reviews, and inventory management. Lead the recruitment, onboarding, and retention of top retail talent, building a strong and engaged team. Remain adaptable and step into any role as needed , including assisting customers, managing stock, or resolving operational issues. Requirements Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a retail management or supervisory position (e.g. FMCG, homeware, fashion, etc.). Strong, proven track record of achieving sales targets and improving team performance. Deep, practical understanding of store operations , including opening/closing, merchandising, customer service, and stock control. Hands-on approach to leadership , with the ability to work alongside the team and set an example in service and performance. Excellent people management skills , with experience in training, developing, and holding teams accountable. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to motivate, guide, and inspire others . Technologically confident, with experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and POS or stock systems (e.g. Cistech, SAP). Willingness to work flexible retail hours, including weekends, public holidays , and extended trading periods. Preferred: A diploma or degree in Retail, Business Management, or a related field . Background in managing large format or high-volume retail environments with multiple departments.
