What the role is about: Our client is looking for a Client Accountant to join their outsourced accounting division. This is a portfolio management role-where you’ll take full ownership of client accounts from start to finish-rather than just processing transactions. What you’ll be doing: Managing your own portfolio of clients, ensuring accuracy and deadlines are met Preparing monthly management accounts, reconciliations, and reporting packs Handling VAT, payroll, and compliance submissions in collaboration with the tax team Preparing year-end working papers and supporting audits/independent reviews Working with cloud-based systems (Xero, QuickBooks, Sage) Engaging directly with clients, handling queries, and improving processes What we’re looking for: Completed SAIPA or SAICA articles Practical experience in client accounting (mid-tier/smaller firm background advantageous) Solid understanding of IFRS for SMEs and tax-related processes (VAT, payroll, corporate tax) Comfortable with cloud accounting systems and Excel/Google Sheets Someone proactive, detail-driven, and confident managing their own portfolio What’s in it for you? Key Responsibilities Prepare, examine, and analyse financial statements, management reports, and supporting schedules. Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, IFRS and regulatory requirements. Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes. Reconcile accounts, monitor general ledger entries, and resolve discrepancies. Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations. Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and fixed asset accounting processes. Assisting with Treasury functions, foreign exposures to minimise forex risk. Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis. Ensure timely submission of tax filings and regulatory reports. Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard company assets. Provide financial insights and recommendations to management for strategic decision-making. Qualifications & Skills Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field Proven experience as a Financial Accountant with 7 years or more Strong knowledge of accounting principles, standards, and regulations. Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics BC 365, Sage Accounting, or similar) and advanced MS Excel skills. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
