• Lead and support the design, analysis, and detailing of 132kV overhead line systems, including towers, poles, foundations, conductors, and insulators.
• Prepare and review engineering drawings, technical reports, and specifications.
• Conduct line routing studies (GIS, environmental, and technical considerations).
• Ensure compliance with international and local standards (IEC, IEEE, Eskom/utility standards, etc.).
• Provide technical input during tenders, estimation, and feasibility studies.
• Oversee construction, quality assurance, and site inspections to ensure safe and compliant installations.
• Collaborate with civil, structural, and electrical teams to integrate OHL systems into broader transmission projects.
• Drive innovation in materials, methods, and designs to reduce costs and improve reliability.

 
Requirements

• BEng / BSc / BTech in Electrical or Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
• ECSA registration as Pr.Eng / Pr.Tech Eng (preferred).
• 5+ years’ experience in design and/or construction of 132kV overhead transmission lines.
• Strong knowledge of international standards (IEC, IEEE, CIGRÉ, SANS).
• Proficiency in OHL design software (e.g., PLS-CADD, PLS-Tower, PLS-Pole) is highly advantageous.
• Demonstrated experience in project management, cost estimation, and tendering.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to liaise with clients, contractors, and regulators.
• Safety-first mindset with proven knowledge of HSE standards in transmission line projects.
