Functions and Events Coordinator Luxury Hotel, Cape Town Kendrick Recruitment is seeking an experienced Functions and Events Coordinator to join a luxury hotel in Cape Town. This role requires a highly organised and motivated individual with a proven track record in coordinating functions and events at a 5-star level. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of event planning and management, from provisional bookings through to execution, ensuring seamless delivery and guest satisfaction. Salary: R18,000 R20,000 (Negotiable DOE) Responsibilities: Monitor and manage provisional and confirmed function and conference bookings, ensuring no double bookings occur Update function sheets and communicate confirmations to all relevant departments Oversee all aspects of internal and external event planning, including exhibitions and large business-to-business events Create event proposals tailored to client requirements and present them within deadlines Maintain strong relationships with vendors and coordinate site inspections with clients Delegate event planning tasks to team members where necessary Manage and oversee events on the day, including guest liaison, vendor coordination, and staff communication Handle financial administration including issuing invoices, collecting payments, and preparing financial reports Collaborate with the marketing team to ensure effective event promotions and materials Identify and create sales opportunities for future events during client interactions Minimum Requirements: 35 years experience as a Functions and Events Coordinator (5-star hotel or similar environment advantageous) Previous leadership experience Excellent communication skills with a high level of English proficiency Strong numeracy and financial reporting skills Ability to plan effectively in advance and train/develop team members Motivated; enthusiastic, and energetic team player with a positive attitude Willingness to work shifts and manage multiple priorities under pressure Own transport preferable
