As a Junior Accountant, you will assist in maintaining accurate financial records and performing essential accounting tasks. Your responsibilities will include processing invoices, payments, and journal entries, reconcile accounts, and prepare monthly management reports. You will also handle statutory returns, assist with audits, and maintain compliance with company policies and accounting standards. This position requires a proactive individual who can work independently and as part of a team while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
 
Skills & Experience:
Minimum of 6 months’ relevant accounting or finance experience
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (Sage)
Good understanding of basic accounting principles and reconciliations
Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
Professional communication skills and proactive attitude
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
 
Qualification:
Accounting degree

Handle the day-to-day processing of supplier invoices, payments, receipts, and general journal entries
Complete routine reconciliations for bank accounts, creditors, and debtors
Compile monthly management accounts and basic financial reporting packs
Keep the general ledger accurate and up to date, including all supporting schedules
Assist with the preparation of budgets and track performance against approved figures
Prepare and submit VAT, PAYE, and other statutory returns within required timelines
Support audit processes by gathering documentation and addressing auditor requests
Manage petty cash and verify staff reimbursement claims
Generate customer invoices, distribute them to the correct stakeholders, and follow up on overdue amounts
Oversee accounts receivable and accounts payable to ensure prompt payments and collections
Maintain the fixed asset register and update depreciation calculations
Adhere to internal policies and relevant accounting frameworks to ensure compliance
Assist with improving financial processes and maintain organised filing and document control
Provide general administrative and financial support to management as needed
 
Skills & Experience:
A completed Degree in finance or Accounting
6 months of experience in accounting or finance related roles
Proficient in Microsoft Excel
Understanding of basic accounting principles

Qualification:
Completed BCom degree in finance or Accounting

Assisting with preparation of financial statements
Reconciling bank accounts and other ledgers
Processing invoices and expense reports
Assisting with payroll preparation
Supporting audits by providing documentation
Preparing journal entries and adjustments
Monitoring accounts receivable and payable
Ensuring compliance with accounting standards and company policies
Assisting senior accountants with month-end and year-end closing tasks
 
Skills & Experience:
SAIPA article completed or a Degree and 3 years of experience

Qualification:
BCom or equivalent
PA(SA) a plus
