Qualified Accountant

Location: Foreshore, Cape Town

We are seeking a qualified accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in preparing and signing off year-end financial statements, managing tax compliance, and handling VAT matters. This role requires a detail-oriented professional with strong analytical skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Year-End Financials:
   • Prepare and review year-end financial statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards.
   • Ensure accuracy and compliance with financial reporting requirements.
   • Sign off on financial statements and liaise with external auditors during the audit process.
2. Tax Compliance:
   • Prepare and submit corporate tax returns and ensure compliance with tax regulations.
   • Provide tax planning and advisory services to optimize tax liabilities.
   • Stay updated on changes in tax legislation and assess their impact on the organization.
3. VAT Management:
   • Prepare and submit VAT returns accurately and on time.
   • Ensure compliance with VAT regulations and maintain proper documentation.
   • Provide guidance on VAT-related queries and assist in VAT audits.
4. Financial Analysis:
   • Conduct financial analysis and reporting to support decision-making.
   • Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes.
5. Collaboration:
   • Work closely with other departments to gather necessary financial information.
   • Provide support and training to junior staff as needed.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA) is essential.
• Minimum 3 – 5 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on year-end financials, tax, and VAT.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and tax regulations.
• Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
