About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Bookkeeper to join our client’s team in Bloemfontein. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and maintaining accurate financial records, processing accounting transactions, and preparing important financial reports. This position plays a critical role in day-to-day accounting operations and supports the overall financial health of the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure that all bank transactions are accurately processed, recorded, and reconciled.
- Perform regular reconciliations of bank statements against internal financial records to identify discrepancies and resolve any issues.
- Conduct monthly reconciliations of all general ledger accounts to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial data.
- Handle VAT calculations and ensure that VAT returns are completed accurately and submitted on time, in compliance with tax regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of inventory levels and valuations, reconcile any inventory discrepancies, and prepare necessary reports.
- Oversee the management of creditors, ensuring payments are made on time and that records of all transactions are accurately maintained.
- Manage debtors’ accounts, ensuring timely collections, accurate invoicing, and regular follow-up on overdue payments.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience in bookkeeping or a similar accounting role.
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., Pastel, QuickBooks, Xero).
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
Qualifications
- Completed a Matric or equivalent qualification.
