Job Description
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
- Plan, direct, and oversee daily mining activities to ensure targets for production, safety, and quality are achieved.
- Monitor and control mining operations to ensure compliance with schedules, budgets, and contractual obligations.
- Ensure effective utilization of machinery, equipment, and resources.
- Liaise with technical, maintenance, and support departments to ensure smooth operations.
- Promote a strong safety culture and lead by example in implementing zero-harm initiatives.
- Supervise and lead site personnel including supervisors, operators, and administrative staff.
- Manage performance, discipline, and staff development through effective leadership and mentorship.
- Manage site budgets and control operational costs to meet financial objectives.
- Compile daily, weekly, and monthly production and performance reports.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Grade 12 (Matric) essential.
- Diploma or Degree in Mining or Civil Engineering
- Minimum 5–10 years’ experience in opencast mining operations, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or management role.
- Blasting Certificate for Surface Mines
- Strong understanding of SHEQ regulations and compliance.
- Proficiency in MS Office and production reporting systems.
- Valid driver’s license.
- The successful candidate will be required to pass a medical assessment.
