Job Description

Our esteemed Travel Industry Client is looking for a Learning & Development Specialist who believes in the power of people, progress, and purposeful training. The Role You will lead, manage, and elevate all training and skills‑development initiatives across the business. From onboarding to advanced systems training, from SETA submissions to strategic capability planning, you’ll be the anchor that ensures every employee has the tools, knowledge, and confidence to thrive. This role blends facilitation, content creation, project management, compliance, and stakeholder partnership — ideal for someone who enjoys both structure and creativity in equal measure. What You’ll Be Responsible For • Oversee and maintain the LMS, ensuring seamless setup and management. • Facilitate monthly induction and internal systems training, including Tourplan NX. • Design, develop, and deliver training interventions for all levels of staff. • Create high‑quality training material for in‑person and online learning. • Produce engaging digital content such as videos, surveys, questionnaires, and gamified learning. • Drive participation in online learning initiatives. • Evaluate training outcomes and report insights to Human Capital and departmental leaders. • Facilitate workshops and internal training sessions. • Oversee supplier training coordination. • Deliver training across regional and global offices (Cape Town, East Africa, etc.). • Manage bursary processes. • Lead change‑management training by staying ahead of process updates and ensuring teams are equipped and informed. • Recommend proactive training interventions across the organisation. • Support stakeholders with personal development plans and ensure implementation. SETA Mandatory & Discretionary Grant Processes • Serve as the Skills Development Facilitator and primary liaison with the SETA. • Compile the Workplace Skills Plan (WSP) and Annual Training Report (ATR). • Track and report on tranche payments. • Implement approved training plans. • Draft annual SETA implementation reports. • Advise the Human Capital GM on SETA quality standards. • Manage all SETA reporting requirements. • Oversee internships, including grant applications, documentation, logbooks, and reporting. • Manage bursary‑related SETA submissions and documentation. Budget Management • Provide annual training budget costings as part of the Training Business Plan. • Monitor monthly training spend and prepare variance reports. • Notify the Head of Department of SETA payments received. What You Bring A bachelor’s degree/diploma and 5–7 years of training experience, or a suitable combination of education and experience. 3–5 years as a Skills Development Facilitator. ODETDP National Certificate (advantageous). Accreditation as a Facilitator, Assessor, Moderator, and Skills Development Facilitator (SDF). Experience with LMS platforms. Tourplan NX experience (advantageous). Your Strengths • Confident coaching, counselling, negotiation, and conflict‑resolution ability. • A mature, objective approach to sensitive or complex matters. • Professional communication and strong interpersonal presence. • High levels of discretion, tact, and confidentiality. • Excellent planning, organisation, analysis, and decision‑making. • Strong project management and problem‑solving capability. • Skilled in research, facilitation, and presentation. • Solid understanding of South African labour legislation. • Proficient in Microsoft Office, with working knowledge of Tourplan NX.
