Job Description

Job Title: Disaster Recovery Engineer Location: Africa (Onsite & Remote) Experience: 35 Years Job Type: Full-Time Role Overview: We are seeking an experienced Senior Disaster Recovery (DR) Engineer to lead and manage disaster recovery planning, business continuity initiatives, and risk mitigation strategies. The ideal candidate will hold recognized certifications in Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery, and possess hands-on experience implementing DR strategies in enterprise environments. Key Responsibilities: Develop, implement, and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans. Conduct risk assessments, impact analyses, and vulnerability assessments to identify potential threats. Design and implement DR solutions for critical IT systems, applications, and infrastructure. Coordinate DR drills, tests, and audits to ensure readiness and compliance. Collaborate with IT, security, and operations teams to integrate DR strategies with overall business continuity frameworks. Monitor and optimize DR processes and recommend improvements. Provide guidance, mentorship, and training to junior DR staff and stakeholders. Required Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field. 35 years of experience in Disaster Recovery, Business Continuity, or IT Risk Management. Certifications : Business Continuity Practitioner (S-BCP) DR Certified Specialist (DRCS) Certified Functional Continuity Professional (CFCP) Or similar recognized DR/BC certifications Strong understanding of DR technologies, backup solutions, cloud DR, and recovery procedures. Experience in conducting DR testing, documentation, and reporting. Preferred: Familiarity with regulatory compliance requirements (ISO 22301, ISO 27001).
