Job Description

GC Solar, a dynamic and growing player in the renewable energy sector, is seeking a highly skilled and certified professional to lead our new Support and Repair Division. This is a key leadership role for an individual with deep technical expertise in photovoltaic (PV) systems, battery energy storage (BESS), and broader electrical systems.

The successful candidate will be responsible for heading up the division, diagnosing faults, performing repairs, and ensuring the optimal performance of our installed base of residential, commercial, and industrial solar and storage systems.

Requirements

KEY REQUIREMENTS FOR CONSIDERATION:

A valid PV Green Card is non-negotiable.

A valid Wiremans License (3-Phase) and a completed Electrical Trade Test.

Proven experience (3+ years) in the installation, troubleshooting, and repair of:

Grid-tied and hybrid PV systems (1-phase and 3-phase).

Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).

Associated components (inverters, charge controllers, monitoring systems).

Strong leadership qualities with the ability to head up a division, manage workflows, and mentor junior technicians.

Excellent fault-finding and diagnostic skills, with a methodical approach to repair and maintenance.

In-depth knowledge of the SANS 10142-1 wiring code and all relevant regulations for grid-connected PV systems.

A valid drivers licence, own reliable vehicle, and a clear criminal record.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Lead and build the GC Solar Support and Repair Division.

Perform advanced troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance on existing solar PV and BESS installations.

Provide technical support and guidance to clients and team members.

Ensure all work complies with the latest quality, safety, and electrical standards.

Manage repair logistics, documentation, and reporting.
