About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated Sales Representative to join our team in Cape Town City Centre. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining and expanding strong customer relationships, ensuring consistent service delivery, and identifying opportunities to increase sales revenue.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop effective sales and channel strategies for current and new customers to achieve sales volume and profitability goals
  • Increase sales by targeting new customers within the Western Cape region with specific focus on Cape Town and surrounds, the Garden Route and Overberg regions
  • Research and analyse sales and business opportunities
  • Grow current customer basket by selling across the range of products offered
  • Handle samples for current and new clients
  • Reach or exceed monthly sales targets
  • Weekly feedback/reporting on sales progress and issues as well as looking for new opportunities and keeping tabs on market conditions and competitor activities
  • Maintain a regular cycle with regards to calling on allocated customer base
  • Negotiate prices/deals with customers
  • Manage the relationships with agents/distributors
  • Manage the order and delivery process, by making sure orders are placed on time and within the company’s delivery schedule as well as following up on distribution related issues
  • Assist with customer complaints
  • Handle Quality issues and returns
  • Work closely with the company accounts department regarding current and new clients
  • Coordinate regular in-store tastings with independent retailers and wholesalers and encourage them to place advertisements to support sales growth and increase brand visibility
  • Work closely with the marketing team to share updates on food shows, in-store tastings, charity events, and other activities to grow brand presence
  • Monitor market trends and competitor activity to identify opportunities for growth and product positioning

About the Role

As a Sales Representative in our Cape Town City Centre office, you will play a crucial role in maintaining our brand reputation and ethos while driving business growth through sales and customer relationship management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct an average of ten client calls per day, ensuring that a weekly call report is completed and submitted to the Sales Manager.
  • Complete a client call planner and ensure it is repeated on a four-to-six-week cycle.
  • Monitor sales performance and gross profit activities.
  • Present and sell company products and services to existing and potential clients.
  • Follow up on new leads and referrals generated through field activities.
  • Provide product demonstrations to both new and existing clients.
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities within existing accounts (upselling).
  • Achieve agreed-upon sales targets.
  • Complete written service reports for clients where required, discuss them with relevant stakeholders, and submit copies to the Sales Manager.
  • Ensure that staff training is conducted for all clients, and that all related administrative tasks are completed (e.g. training registers, training certificates).
  • Build and maintain relationships with all key client stakeholders (e.g. Buyers, General Managers, Chefs, Contract or Area Managers).
  • Provide prompt and professional service and assistance at all times.
  • Assist with customer deliveries when required due to unforeseen circumstances.
  • Advise customers on the most suitable products and their efficient use.
  • Manage account services through quality checks and ongoing follow-ups.
  • Perform technical installations, repairs and maintenance of equipment when required.
  • Apply the company’s consultative sales approach by using hands-on service to enhance overall customer value.
  • Provide after-hours emergency service to customers when required.
  • Strengthen customer relationships through innovative products, demonstrations, regular service and ongoing training.
