About the Role

One of South Africa’s leading retail banks, renowned for reshaping the banking landscape through simplicity, transparency, and innovation, is seeking an experienced Software Back-End Engineer to join their high-performing technology team. With significant investment in modern platforms, automation, cloud engineering, and highly scalable systems, this is an opportunity to work at the forefront of financial technology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver end-to-end solutions covering architecture, development, deployment, and ongoing monitoring.
  • Contribute to building secure, high-performance systems that support millions of customers across South Africa.

Requirements

  • Strong programming skills in C# (.NET 7/8/9) and Python (FastAPI)
  • Deep understanding of AWS cloud services (IAM, EKS, RDS, MSK/Kafka, Lambda, ElastiCache)
  • Expertise in Infrastructure as Code using Terraform (modules, state management, environment-specific provisioning)
  • Solid understanding of microservices architecture, REST/gRPC APIs, and event-driven design
  • Proficiency with databases (PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MySQL)
  • Knowledge of CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins)
  • Strong understanding of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools (Instana, Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry)

Salary & Benefits

Cost to company salary of up to R1.5m per annum depending on experience and ability.
