About the Role
We are seeking a skilled SQL Developer / ETL Developer with at least 3 years of experience to join our Business Intelligence (BI) delivery team in Cape Town City Centre. The successful candidate will play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining data integration and BI solutions using the Microsoft technology stack.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, optimise, and maintain complex SQL Server queries, views, stored procedures, and functions.
- Build, enhance, and support ETL pipelines using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) to ingest, transform, and load data into data warehouses and data marts.
- Participate in BI projects, delivering trusted datasets for dashboards, reports, and analytical models.
- Collaborate with business analysts, data engineers, and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Perform data validation, reconciliation, and quality checks to ensure data accuracy and consistency.
- Design and support dimensional data models (fact and dimension tables).
- Troubleshoot performance issues and optimise SQL Server and SSIS packages.
- Maintain technical documentation, including ETL mappings, data models, and process flows.
- Support deployments and production environments using Azure DevOps or similar tools.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience as a SQL / BI / ETL Developer
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server (T-SQL), including performance tuning and query optimisation
- Proven experience developing ETL solutions using SSIS
- Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts, including dimensional modelling (Star/Snowflake schemas)
- Experience across the Microsoft BI stack, including: SQL Server, SSIS, SSRS, and/or Power BI (advantageous)
