About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated Mechatronics Engineer Intern to join our team in Cape Town City Centre. As an intern, you will have the opportunity to work on real-world projects and contribute to the development of innovative automation solutions. Your passion for automation, packaging innovation, and sustainable manufacturing will be valued and supported.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engineering projects from concept through to implementation
- Develop and integrate automation systems (PLC, HMI, motion control, vision systems, SCADA, server-side and front-end systems)
- Support machine builds, upgrades and installations (electrical, mechanical and controls)
- Implement engineering standards, documentation and equipment data models
- Troubleshoot complex manufacturing and automation issues and implement long-term solutions
- Maintain accurate project documentation, technical reports and engineering records
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety standards and company policies
- Maintain GMP and Food Safety Management System (FSMS) requirements
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, production and other departments
- Continuously improve technical knowledge and stay up to date with automation and Industry 4.0 technologies
Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechatronics Engineering (preferred)
- Engineering degree in related discipline (Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering) will be considered with strong cross-disciplinary capability
- Diploma in Mechatronics considered for candidates with exceptional technical ability and proven project experience
