About the Role
Our client, a leading steel industry company based in Cato Ridge, is seeking an experienced Production Superintendent to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing production operations and ensuring the efficient management of shift teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervising operations and managing shift teams.
- Developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to required standards.
- Ensuring incoming material inspection as per SOP.
- Managing optimum utilization of production lines.
- Monitoring production parameters as per SOP.
- Ensuring output conforms to Quality SOP.
- Complying with prescribed material consumption parameters.
- Monitoring utilities, including cooling tower, compressor, and cooling water.
- Liaising with Maintenance and Quality Assurance teams.
- Ensuring team compliance with procedures and statutory requirements.
- Responsible for shift team training and development.
- Capturing data on SAP for coil identification, materials, roll usage, and leave.
- Signing off and submitting verified compensation-related documentation to HR.
- Ensuring proper shift-handover.
- Reporting operating parameters and capturing consumptions.
- Long-term planning for Mill and Roll shop.
- Adhering to safe work practices and good housekeeping (6S).
Requirements
- Grade 12
- Production experience with N6 National Diploma in Engineering or Operations Management.
- Minimum 5-10 years of extensive experience in the steel industry, specifically in Cold Rolling and Roll Shop Management.
- Computer literacy (Word, Excel, MS Projects, PowerPoint).
