About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Safety, Health & Environment Officer to join our team in Stutterheim, Eastern Cape. The successful candidate will provide critical support to ensure the health, safety, and environmental compliance of our operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide support and guidance to Managers on Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) matters within the Group
  • Investigate incidents using root cause analysis tools and compile incident reports
  • Implement, monitor and enforce compliance to OHS legislation
  • Conducting OHS audits
  • Review and update safety management systems and related training programmes
  • Monitor and report on all incidents and accidents
  • Provide first responder assistance to medical emergencies (during and after hours)
  • Compile and present Weekly, Monthly and Quarterly reports
  • Participate in workplace committees and forums
  • Assist and participate in fire-fighting operations
  • Manage emergency preparedness of sites
  • OD (Injury on Duty) mitigation and management
  • Contractor management
  • Site environmental management and compliance
  • Maintain risk registers

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 Years related experience in ensuring compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Act in a forestry related industry
  • SAMTRAC Qualification or equivalent
  • Occupational Health and Safety Act Training Certificate
  • Firefighting and emergency procedures training
  • Computer literacy with proficiency in MS Office, Word, Excel, and Power Point
  • Strong administrative skills
  • Valid driver’s licence
