About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Applications Engineer to join our team in Pretoria, responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining industrial software applications across various OT and IT environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage with stakeholders to analyse and document business, operational, and technical requirements
  • Design, develop, deploy, and maintain industrial software applications, including HMI and SCADA solutions
  • Develop and manage database schemas, optimize queries, and ensure reliable data integrity across SQL/NoSQL environments
  • Design and implement APIs and integration interfaces connecting PLCs, SCADA, IIoT, ERP, and analytics platforms
  • Contribute to system architecture, secure implementation practices, structured testing, and solution validation
  • Support deployment, troubleshooting, documentation, and ongoing system improvement initiatives

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years experience in industrial automation or related environments
  • Practical experience with PLC, SCADA, DCS, or equivalent industrial platforms
  • Exposure to system integration using databases, APIs, and protocols such as REST, MQTT, or OPC UA
  • Understanding of industrial networking fundamentals and basic cybersecurity principles
  • Experience delivering projects in sectors such as FMCG, Mining, Water, or Manufacturing

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science
