About the Role
RPO Recruitment is seeking an experienced Senior Draughtsman to join our client’s team in Cape Town. As a key member of the design team, you will be responsible for producing high-quality technical drawings and supporting product development within a fast-paced industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Producing accurate and detailed technical drawings from concept through to complete 3D manufacturing drawings
- Interpreting client requirements and translating design concepts into production-ready drawings
- Designing, rendering, and detail designing of components and full assemblies
- Collaborating closely with Design and Production teams to ensure feasibility and manufacturability
- Updating and maintaining drawing registers and documentation control systems
- Revising and reworking existing designs based on client or production feedback
- Providing technical support to production, sales, and manufacturing teams
- Conducting site measurements and assisting with prototyping when required
- Liaising with suppliers regarding component specifications and material selection
- Researching, designing, and developing new product concepts
- Ongoing product development and enhancement of existing product ranges
- Preparing cost estimations for new and existing designs
- Comparing estimated versus actual project costs upon completion
Requirements
Relevant technical qualification (Certificate/Diploma in Mechanical or Architectural Draughting)
Minimum 5 years practical experience in a similar role within a manufacturing or industrial design environment
Strong understanding of steel structures, joinery, plumbing systems, 12V electrical installations, solar panel integration, and mechanical components
