Are you a highly experienced laboratory professional with strong leadership and technical expertise?
Join a well-established civil engineering and materials testing services provider as a Site Laboratory Manager, where you will be responsible for leading multi-disciplinary site laboratory operations across various divisions including soils, concrete, asphalt, seals and aggregates. If you have excellent management skills, strong technical knowledge, and extensive experience in laboratory environments, we want to hear from you!
Minimum requirements:
Relevant National Diploma and 12 years relevant experience; OR
NQF6 and 12 years relevant experience; OR
Grade 12 and 15 years relevant experience; OR
NQF4 and 15 years relevant experience
Completion of a SANAS Laboratory Systems course based on ISO/IEC 17025:2017
SANAS Internal Auditing course based on ISO/IEC 17025:2017
Demonstrated experience managing site laboratory operations
Competent to perform and verify tests across all divisions (Soils, Concrete, Asphalt, Seals and Aggregates)
Competent and qualified to supervise and execute field work
Ability to perform full test calculations accurately
Familiarity with COTO test methods and procedures
Knowledge of Health and Safety procedures

Key responsibilities:
Management of site laboratory facilities:
Ensure OHS requirements are met
Maintain laboratory environment and cleanliness
Coordinate and implement quality systems
Management of site laboratory personnel:
Monitor performance and development of testing staff
Provide training and supervision in accordance with procedures
Maintain personnel and training records
Management of site laboratory equipment:
Supervise maintenance, calibration and servicing of equipment
Manage usage and delegate operation to testing personnel
Ensure the availability of roadworthy and safe vehicles
Calculate and update correction factors
Management of sampling and testing:
Lead laboratory operations and daily activities
Ensure prescribed test methods are followed strictly
Schedule and monitor sampling and testing
Manage sample storage and records
Halt testing with QA Manager when required
Management of test data and reporting:
Ensure data capturing, processing and backups
Coordinate reporting and final verification of results
Sign off and issue test reports or request retesting
Recall erroneously issued reports when necessary
Remuneration:
R35 000 R65 000 per month (depending on experience)
