Job Summary
The Head of Water Sales will lead all commercial activity within the water services division. This senior role requires a combination of technical understanding, strategic vision, and strong relationship management skills. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying new opportunities, managing key accounts, and building a high-performance sales team to achieve ambitious growth targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a strategic sales plan for the water division in line with company growth objectives
- Lead, coach, and manage the water sales team to consistently meet and exceed revenue targets
- Identify and develop new business opportunities across municipal, industrial, agricultural, and commercial water markets
- Build and sustain long-term relationships with key clients including municipalities, water boards, and government departments
- Collaborate with engineering and project delivery teams to develop technically sound and commercially competitive proposals and tenders
- Monitor developments in water legislation, policy, and infrastructure funding to identify strategic opportunities
- Manage the full sales lifecycle from prospecting and needs analysis through to contract negotiation and handover
- Provide accurate sales forecasts, pipeline reports, and performance updates to executive leadership
- Represent the company at industry events, stakeholder engagements, and professional forums
- Support bid and tender processes including pricing strategy, scope definition, and client presentations
Key Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or any other related qualification
- 10+ years’ experience in technical or engineering sales, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role
- Demonstrated knowledge of water infrastructure, reticulation, treatment, conservation, or related services
- Proven track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets
- Experience engaging with South African municipalities, water utilities, or government procurement processes will be advantageous
- Strong commercial and contract negotiation experience
- Familiarity with the National Water Act, MFMA procurement processes, and relevant sector frameworks
- Valid South African driver’s licence and willingness to travel
