About the Role
Kendrick Recruitment is seeking a skilled and proactive Sous Chef to join a luxury boutique hotel in Cape Town. This role is ideal for a culinary professional with 5-star hotel experience, fine dining expertise, and a passion for delivering exceptional guest experiences both in the main kitchen and private Villas.
Key Responsibilities
• Run the kitchen effectively in the Executive Chef and Executive Sous Chef’s absence
• Ensure smooth communication between restaurants, Villas, and kitchen staff
• Verify orders for chefs and maintain quality, quantity, presentation, and correct temperature of all dishes
• Maintain 5-star standards for food preparation, presentation, and cooking techniques
• Collaborate with the Food & Beverage department to meet operational objectives
• Exceed guest expectations with consistent, high-quality cuisine
• Assist with writing and presenting daily menus, tasting all dishes, and advising guests
• Oversee Villa operations: stock preparation, arrival readiness, and ensuring food quality matches main kitchen standards
• Assist during events and ensure Villas are service-ready at all times
• Maintain cleanliness, minimise waste, and monitor operational equipment
• Manage stock control, supplier relationships, daily orders, and monthly stocktakes
• Monitor storage, rotation, and quality of all food items including Fish, Meat, and Walk-in/Freezers
Requirements
Culinary qualification preferred
Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role
5-star hotel and fine dining experience essential
Previous yacht or luxury villa experience advantageous
Ability to work independently and interact professionally with guests
Strong communication skills; travel experience beneficial
