About the Role

Dis-Chem Pharmacies Lambton store is seeking a Dispensary Support to join our team on a Fixed Term basis. The primary purpose of this role is to equip learners with the necessary skills and knowledge to become a registered Basic Pharmacist Assistant. This opportunity will provide learners with hands-on experience in a pharmacy environment, allowing them to develop their understanding of pharmaceutical principles and practices.

Key Responsibilities

Assist with the sale of Schedule 1 medicines or scheduled substances under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
Compounding, manipulation, or preparation of non-sterile medicines or scheduled substances according to approved formulas and Standard Operating Procedures.
Unpacking and merchandising of stock, cleaning of dispensary and OTC shelves, as approved by the responsible pharmacist.
Accurately interpret scripts and act in a professional and responsible manner within legal requirements.
Check medication for accuracy, including picking, packing, labelling, and checking expiration dates.
Assist with the control of stock, including cleanliness and organisation of shelves and medicine expiry dates.
Follow up with patients regarding script tracking reports as requested by the dispensary manager.
Provide information to individuals to promote health and well-being.
Assist with scheme authorization of chronic, HIV, and AIDS, and oncology medication.
Report on low or out-of-stock levels and stock errors to the dispensary manager.
Receive dispensary stock in accordance with SOP set out by the company.

Requirements

Grade 12 Matric or a Senior Certificate with Pure Mathematics 50%, Life Science, and/or Physical Science obtained at least an average of 50%.
Completed a proficiency test approving registration with Pharmacy Council (SAPC) as a learner basic assistant.
Ability to read, write, and speak in English and one second language.
