Key
Responsibilities:
- Anesthesia Services:
- Administer anesthesia for surgical procedures in accordance with established protocols and patient needs.
- Monitor patients before, during, and after anesthesia to ensure safety and appropriate recovery.
- Manage anesthesia-related emergencies as they arise.
2. Emergency Department Cover (Optional):
- Provide daytime cover for the emergency department as needed.
- Assess and manage urgent medical cases presenting to the hospital.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care.
3. Clinical Excellence:
- Uphold high standards of clinical practice and patient safety.
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation of patient records and procedural details.
- Participate in continuous professional development activities to stay updated with latest medical advancements.
4. Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes.
- Contribute to multidisciplinary meetings and case discussions
Qualifications and Experience:
- Medical degree from a recognized institution.
- Registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a General Practitioner.
- Diploma in Anesthesia (or equivalent qualification) recognized by HPCSA.
- Proven experience in providing anesthesia services in a hospital setting, preferably in a private hospital environment.
- Experience or willingness to cover emergency department shifts is advantageous.
Skills and Attributes:
- Strong clinical skills with a focus on anesthesia techniques and patient management.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and in a multidisciplinary team.
