A recent professional profile photo is to accompany your application EMPLOYMENT TYPE : Permanent SECTOR : PET Production BASIC SALARY : R 41 666.00 Benefits START DATE : A.S.A.P / Immediate REQUIREMENTS: Grade 12 Bachelor`s Degree / Advanced Diploma in Mechanical Engineering 5 years relevant setting experience Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) Sound understanding of drawings Installation of parts & related equipment High level of emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills Installation of parts & related equipment Fault finding and problem solving Good communication skills Ability to act decisively and urgently Passionate to progress a career into Packaging and PET Processing for the future with an appreciation of the environment concerns and impacts Able to make good business aligned judgement decisions at an operational level whilst maintaining maintenance standards, practices & procedures in line with defined and communicated authority and as per instructions Responsible for all activities linked to position as defined Ensure escalation to the appropriate level of authority Ensure transparent, responsive and open communication between colleagues DUTIES: Technical: Identify, report and rectify all technical areas of concern on assigned production equipment (machines, moulds, etc.) Have an in-depth understanding of: Product and its quality criteria Process (material feeding and drying, injection moulding, reheat stretch blow moulding and injection blow moulding) In Depth knowledge of all equipment, detailed for assigned equipment Mould installation Technical principles and drawings (e.g. assemblies and spare part finding, pneumatic, hydraulic, electric) Fault analysis and problem solving: Independently do fault analysis and problem solving in case of (teamwork as needed) Product quality, processing issues Mould issues Machine malfunction (mechanic / hydraulic / pneumatic / electric) Recognize and report problems to Maintenance Manager & Production Manager on other than the assigned equipment Maintenance: Independently develop maintenance plans and check lists (teamwork as needed) Ensure maintenance is done at required intervals according to the plans Spares: Identify spares needed for assigned equipment As a preventative measure identified during maintenance checks Machine Setting: Independently develop machine settings (teamwork as needed) Set and check that machines are correctly set for each run Document settings and setting adjustments centrally If needed (for fault finding, etc.) the technician is allowed to temporarily run the machine with bridged safety switch, while present at the machine. He must be aware of the risk that comes with such action and it is his responsibility to ensure he does not get himself or others into dangerous situations. He must ensure he takes the right precautions (e.g. know the movements of the machine; special PPE like face shield, etc.) for such actions. He is also responsible for ensuring that nobody else (e.g. packer) gets close to or into the “unsafe” area of such machine. Management: Liaise with Maintenance Manager & Production Manager (in charge) to ensure machine availability vs. major maintenance intervals Have an overview what needs to be done and report to Maintenance Manager & Production Manager Give completion dates and fulfill tasks required by Maintenance Manager & Production Manager Ensure sound relationships and communication with internal work-related staff (Production, etc.) and external (Tool room, Technical department, suppliers, etc.) Strive for improvement, research and make suggestions Administration (job): Log jobs performed Analyze Defect Register together with Maintenance Manager & Production Manager to improve production result Contact external suppliers as agreed with Maintenance Manager & Production Manager to assist in solving problems (quotes on service, spare parts, etc.) Spares: Have an overview of existing stock for equipment Spare part analysis ( keep stock vs. source at breakdown) Report parts needed to Maintenance Manager & Production Manager and assist in decision to have on stock or source at breakdown Assist Maintenance Manager & Production Manager in ordering process (e.g. Prepare documents, follow up on orders) Health & Safety: Ensure and enforce that aspects in area of responsibility conform to Health and safety requirements Maintain housekeeping standards in area of responsibility (e.g. ensure cleanliness assigned machines and areas) Work safely and report on safety hazards or issues Report any accidents, incidents and near misses Quality: Apply the companys quality principles and standards Maintain Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) Food Safety System Certification (FSSC): Food safety standards are site specific and at these sites employees should: Apply the sites food safety principles and standards Report any food safety hazards or issues to your Supervisor/Manager Comply to and maintain all GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices) in relation to the Companys FSMS (Food Safety Management System) Self-Development, Growth and Training: Realistic assessment of own strengths and development areas and undertake actions to address weaknesses, if any that hinders the fulfilment of your objectives Keep abreast of innovation and technical improvements for further self-development and the development of the company: Keep contact to your key suppliers and discuss with them Read operator manuals of machines Read literature that has to do with your position (e.g. on the internet, Google, etc.) Teamwork and co-operation Self-Management Leadership and interpersonal relationship Product and service quality General: Perform additional tasks as required from time to time Ensure team knows what to do and where to find information if you are not available. Responsibilities:

Technical Expertise : Perform fault analysis and resolve technical issues related to production equipment, moulds, and processes. Oversee product quality and ensure compliance with defined criteria. Develop maintenance plans, conduct maintenance tasks, and document all activities. Identify and manage spare parts inventory. Machine Setting : Develop, set, and optimize machine settings for production runs. Document settings and make adjustments as necessary to maintain production quality and efficiency. Management & Collaboration : Liaise with Maintenance and Production Managers to align maintenance schedules and machine availability. Build strong communication and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, including suppliers and technical teams. Proactively research and suggest improvements for processes and systems. Health, Safety, and Quality Compliance : Ensure adherence to Health and Safety standards and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). Report and address safety hazards, incidents, and near misses. Maintain high housekeeping standards in areas of responsibility. Food Safety System Certification (FSSC) : Uphold food safety standards and practices in alignment with the sites FSMS. Report food safety issues and maintain GMP standards specific to food-grade environments. Self-Development and Innovation : Stay updated on industry innovations, technical improvements, and environmental concerns related to PET processing. Build strong relationships with key suppliers and continually enhance skills through research and training.

Requirements:

Education : Grade 12 (Matric). Bachelors Degree or Advanced Diploma in Mechanical Engineering. Experience : Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in machine setting and technical fault resolution in PET processing. Key Competencies : In-depth understanding of machinery drawings, fault-finding fundamentals, and safe working procedures. Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills. Ability to act with urgency and maintain high standards of emotional intelligence and interpersonal relationships. Special Requirements : Passion for advancing a career in packaging and PET processing with an appreciation of environmental impacts and sustainability.
