Job Summary
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Management
- Lead day-to-day manufacturing operations across multiple production lines or plants.
- Ensure production targets are met in terms of volume, cost, quality, and delivery timelines.
- Oversee preventative and corrective maintenance programs for all plant equipment.
- Drive adherence to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards across the facility.
Strategic & Continuous Improvement
- Develop and implement strategies to improve operational efficiency, reduce waste, and optimize processes (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, TPM).
- Identify and implement capital investment projects in machinery, infrastructure, and technology upgrades.
- Collaborate with supply chain, procurement, and logistics teams to ensure smooth end-to-end operations.
Team Leadership & Talent Development
- Build and lead a high-performing local team of engineers, supervisors, operators, and technical staff.
- Drive knowledge transfer and upskilling of local talent through structured training and mentorship.
- Promote a performance-driven culture with clear KPIs and accountability.
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with internal quality standards and external regulatory requirements.
- Manage audits and certifications (ISO, HACCP, or industry-specific standards).
- Work closely with the Quality Assurance/Control teams to implement robust quality systems.
Financial & Budgetary Oversight
- Manage plant operational budgets and control costs effectively.
- Monitor key financial indicators and implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality or safety.
- Report regularly to HQ or regional leadership on performance metrics and operational risks.
Qualifications & Experience:
Essential:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Management, or related field (Mechanical, Electrical, Food or Agri).
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in food processing or manufacturing and plant operations, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Proven experience managing production facilities in challenging environments or emerging markets.
- Experience in the DRC, or other Central/West African countries.
- Prior expatriate or international assignment experience.
- Fluency in French and English
