Engineering Stores Supervisor

Operations
Responsible for overseeing the efficient management of engineering stores. Ensures the timely availability, storage, and issuance of spare parts, consumables, tools, and maintenance materials to support uninterrupted production. Maintains inventory accuracy, complies with safety and quality standards, and leads a team to minimize downtime and optimize costs.

Job Purpose
Supervise and control the Engineering Stores, ensuring efficient receipt, storage, issuing, and traceability of spare parts, consumables, tools, and maintenance materials. Supports continuous production in a manufacturing environment while maintaining compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Food Safety, and Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) standards. Prevent stockouts, reduce waste, and enhance maintenance operations.

Key Accountabilities and Outputs

Stores Supervision:
Oversee daily store operations and supervise maintenance teams. Ensure timely availability of materials for maintenance and production. Maintain an organized, safe, and audit-ready stores environment, including regular inspections and team performance monitoring.

Goods Receipt & Storage:
Control receipt, inspection, and correct storage of engineering materials. Manage quarantine of non-conforming items and ensure compliance with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), safety, and handling standards to prevent contamination or damage.

Inventory Control:
Monitor stock levels and manage reordering of critical spares. Lead cycle counts, stock takes, and variance investigations to ensure accuracy.

Materials Issue & Maintenance Support:
Ensure accurate issuing of parts against work orders, supporting planned maintenance, shutdowns, and breakdown repairs. Control tooling, fluids, and consumables usage to minimize waste

Systems & Reporting:

Capture all transactions in SAP or equivalent ERP systems. Provide reports on stock levels, usage trends, variances, and key performance indicators (KPIs) such as stock accuracy and reduction in emergency purchases.

Compliance (GMP, Food Safety & SHE):
Enforce Food Safety, GMP, and Health & Safety standards, including hygiene, housekeeping, and contamination control. Ensure safe handling of materials and equipment.

People & Performance Management:
Train, guide, and monitor stores staff, promoting accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement. Conduct performance reviews and foster a culture of efficiency.

Qualifications and Experience

  • (Grade 12) essential
  • Diploma or Certificate in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field preferred.
  • 3-5 years in Engineering Stores or Warehouse Management within the FMCG or beverage manufacturing sector, with supervisory experience preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in SAP or similar systems, MS Office for reporting, and knowledge of inventory management tools.
