About the Role

Our client, a leader in the steel/manufacturing industry, is seeking a highly experienced Management Accountant to join their team based in Cato Ridge. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing accurate and timely financial management accounts reports, reviewing financial performance, and contributing to the company’s growth objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide accurate and timely financial management accounts reports, balance sheet, cash flow statement, and others finance reports within agreed timelines.
• Reviewing of monthly Flash to ensure accuracy reports with commentaries.
• Review product pricing to ensure accuracy.
• Review management reports and analysis of key trends.
• Participate in all reviews of organisational financial performance and take actions for improvement where necessary.
• Conducting in-depth financial analysis to guide decision-making processes, including cost and variance analysis.
• Assisting in the development and execution of financial strategies to support the company’s growth objectives.
• Reviewing and analysing cost reports for all plants.
• Working closely with the plant controllers to ensure accurate and effective cost accounting systems.
• Liaising with other departments to understand and control production costs through monthly cost reviews.
• Manage monthly forecasting process to ensure submission of timely and accurate profit/loss forecasts including commentary provision.
• Coordinate with HODs for timely Preparation of Board pack, Quarterly review pack and other reports as and when required.
• Support finance head for other financial decision-making matters.
• Regularly conduct meetings with plant controllers for financial improvements.
• Assisting with the audit preparation work to allow for timely completion of the annual financial statements and corporation tax returns.

Requirements

• Minimum academic qualification: Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Finance, Accounting or Equivalent
• Professional registration: CA(SA) or CIMA
• General work experience (years): 15 years
• Specific to the position (level/discipline/years): 10 years Manufacturing
• Well versed with MS Excel and Power point.
• SAP S4 HANA IT Software applications
• Outstanding knowledge of electronic spreadsheets

Key Responsibilities

• Preparation and timely reporting of various management reports
• Analysis of Company performance, books of accounts and highlighting control gaps, if any
• Identifying and report on areas of improvement in terms of processes, book keeping
• Oversee month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
• Liaise with managerial staff and other colleagues for smooth and timely availability of inputs required for management reports
• Prepare relevant input schedules in support of management reports, accurately and timely.
• Prepare and analyze input-output stock reconciliation; liaise with other production heads for reasons of yield and other variances
• Analyze inventory and debtors ageing reports and report on risk areas
• Conduct detailed financial analysis, cost assessments, and variance analysis to identify opportunities for operational improvement and enhanced profitability.
• Analyze fixed costs against budget and report on variances
• Supervise direct reportees and ensure timely and accurate inputs are available from them
• Assist in the preparation of annual budgets, long-term financial plans, and financial projections.
• Provide support in internal and external audits, ensuring documentation and explanations are readily available.
• Prepare and report Capex spending, keep track of project costs against budgets, escalate likely deviation to management in time
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement financial strategies, budgets, and forecasts that align with the company’s objectives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• CA (SA) or CIMA qualification is advantageous
• Proven experience of at least 5-7 years in a manufacturing environment as a Management Accountant or in a similar financial role
• Proven ability to manage teams, build relationships, work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, influence others, and lead initiatives
• Good understanding of Accounting standards (IFRS) and tax legislations
• Advance level proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• Strong analytical and communication skills
• Sound problem-solving skills
