Job Description

Duties Supervision & Support Assist the Executive/Head Housekeeper in managing the housekeeping team. Oversee daily cleaning schedules for guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces. Ensure lodge standards are upheld in line with 4-star grading requirements. Staff Management Allocate tasks, check workloads, and monitor performance of housekeeping staff. Train; coach, and motivate staff to maintain high service standards. Assist with staff rosters, timekeeping, and attendance management. Guest Service Respond promptly to guest housekeeping requests and complaints. Ensure special guest requirements (honeymoon setups, VIP arrivals) are met. Conduct room inspections before guest arrivals. Quality Control & Standards Conduct regular inspections of rooms and public areas for cleanliness, presentation, and maintenance issues. Ensure correct use of cleaning products, equipment, and sustainable practices. Maintain lodge hygiene, laundry, and linen standards. Stock & Administration Assist with managing housekeeping supplies, linen, and amenities. Control stock usage and conduct monthly inventory counts. Assist with ordering and monitoring supplier deliveries. Health; Safety & Compliance Ensure compliance with health and safety standards, including chemical handling. Report and follow up on maintenance issues. Adhere to lodge policies and 4-star grading requirements. Qualifications & Experience Education Matric/Grade 12 (essential). Diploma/Certificate in Hospitality Management or Housekeeping (advantageous). Experience 24 years experience in housekeeping, with at least 12 years in a supervisory or assistant management role (preferably in a lodge, hotel, or resort environment). Experience working in a game lodge or remote environment (advantage). Skills & Attributes Strong leadership and people management skills. Excellent attention to detail and quality control. Guest service orientation with good problem-solving skills. Ability to work under pressure in a lodge environment. Good communication skills (English essential; Afrikaans or local languages an advantage). Computer literacy (MS Office, basic reporting).
